Sophia

Few things have inspired me more than movies, particularly the classics. Before I could read a book I was transfixed by watching a woman dancing in a green field, backed by endless blue mountains, or a man filled with love, singing in the rain of a Paris street. It was my first clue to the size of the world, it's history and the nature of the people within it, of hopes, dreams and societal values. I created this painting with those thoughts in mind, a subtle ode and a thank you to my celluloid teachers.
